In 1994, the German concern ZF introduced an updated version of the 5HP18 5-speed automatic transmission and in three different modifications with quite significant design differences: the 5HP19 gearbox was intended for rear-wheel drive BMW models with V6 units up to 300 Nm, 5HP19FL or 5HP19FLA automatic transmissions were installed on front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles under the Audi, Volkswagen and Skoda brands with engines up to W8 with a torque of 370 Nm and finally 5HP19HL or 5HP19HLA for rear-wheel drive Porsches with V6 engines up to 3.6 liters.
